Chandigarh — In a major development for international education and Indo-Austrian cooperation, VFS Education Services has signed a strategic agreement with three of Austria’s most prestigious public Technical Universities — TU Wien (Vienna), TU Graz, and TU Leoben. This landmark partnership paves the way for Indian engineering graduates from ANABIN-recognized institutions to pursue advanced degrees in engineering and technology in Austria.
Through this public-private initiative, students from recognised Indian colleges will gain access to high-quality education in one of Europe’s most academically renowned and technologically advanced countries. The programme offers not just academic excellence, but also hands-on industrial experience and cultural immersion in Austria.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include engineering and technology students who hold a bachelor’s degree from an Indian institution listed in the German ANABIN database, which validates foreign educational qualifications. Students across India from various specialisations—mechanical, civil, electronics, environmental engineering, and more—can apply for this opportunity.
Applications are currently open for both the summer (March) and winter (October) 2026 intakes.
What Does the Programme Offer?
This academic partnership allows Indian students to enrol in a two-year Master’s programme in Austria, combining rigorous theoretical learning with practical exposure. Courses will focus on emerging global challenges and innovation-led fields such as:
-
Circular Engineering
-
Sustainable Technologies
-
Resource Efficiency
-
Digital Manufacturing
-
Smart Systems
These Master’s degrees include components of industry work experience, ensuring students graduate with real-world knowledge and professional readiness. Moreover, universities will host career open days and support on-campus recruitment, providing direct access to European job markets.
Upon successful completion of their degrees, students will be eligible for a one-year post-study work permit, facilitating their transition into the international workforce.
Voices from the Institutions
Prof. Peter Moser, Rector of TU Leoben, highlighted the importance of global collaboration:
“This programme reflects our deep commitment to academic excellence, international exchange, and sustainable development. By welcoming Indian students into our academic community, we’re fostering an ecosystem where innovation thrives and real-world challenges are addressed. I warmly invite students to become part of this exciting journey.”
Zubin Karkaria, Founder and CEO of VFS Global Group, expressed his enthusiasm:
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Austria’s leading technical institutions. This initiative not only expands global mobility for Indian students but also reflects our core mission to create brighter, more interconnected futures through education. It’s a win for students, institutions, and international cooperation.”
A Seamless Application Experience
To simplify and streamline the application process, VFS Education Services has launched a digital admissions portal. The portal is fully mobile-responsive and integrates with existing systems, allowing real-time data capture and improved application tracking. Students can now apply easily from anywhere in India using their smartphones or tablets.
