Chandigarh: Marking a milestone in its silver jubilee year in India, Škoda Auto India has achieved its highest-ever half-yearly sales, delivering 36,194 vehicles between January and June 2025. This historic performance not only reflects the brand’s growing resonance with Indian customers but also sets the tone for Škoda’s next phase of expansion in one of the world’s most dynamic automotive markets.

The performance represents a substantial leap from its previous best of 28,899 units sold in H1 2022, reaffirming Škoda’s strong comeback in a competitive and evolving landscape. The automaker now ranks among the top seven car brands in India, climbing four positions from its 2024 ranking, and edging closer to the market share held by more established legacy players.

A Year of Celebrations and Strategic Growth

Škoda Auto’s H1 2025 achievement comes as the company marks 130 years globally and 25 years of operations in India. This twin-anniversary year has seen the company take bold steps, from new product launches to aggressive network expansion and deeper customer engagement strategies.

Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, said,

“Our landmark half-yearly sales reflect the strong acceptance of Škoda products and services by customers in India. With the addition of the Kylaq, we now enable their journeys even more through an ‘SUV For Everyone’, alongside our trusted sedans. This achievement motivates us to stay focused on being relevant through timely product actions, offering unique value, and continuing to build trust through a world-class ownership experience.”

SUV Momentum and Reinvention of the Sedan Legacy

A key driver of this sales record has been the launch of the Škoda Kylaq, a sub-4-metre compact SUV and the company’s most affordable model to date. Tailored for Indian conditions and preferences, the Kylaq opens the Škoda portfolio to a wider demographic, including first-time buyers in urban and semi-urban centers. The model’s entry into the popular compact SUV segment has been a game-changer for Škoda, helping it penetrate deeper into Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

The Kylaq’s success was followed by the launch of the second-generation Kodiaq, a full-size luxury SUV equipped with 4×4 capabilities. Along with the Kushaq, this gives Škoda a well-rounded SUV lineup catering to both value-conscious buyers and premium customers.

In parallel, the company continues to strengthen its sedan lineup, which has long been a hallmark of Škoda’s brand identity. The Slavia sedan, which was well-received since its launch, continues to perform strongly in a shrinking but loyal midsize sedan market. Additionally, a global icon sedan is slated for an India launch later this year, potentially rekindling the segment for driving enthusiasts and traditional sedan lovers.

Škoda’s entire lineup is now powered by advanced direct-injection turbocharged petrol engines, and the company offers a wide range of automatic transmissions, emphasizing performance, convenience, fuel efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

Expanding Touchpoints: Reaching the Heart of India

Customer accessibility has been another pillar of Škoda Auto India’s resurgence strategy. The brand has aggressively grown its dealership and service network, increasing from 120 touchpoints in 2021 to over 295 in mid-2025. Škoda aims to cross 350 touchpoints by the end of this year, ensuring closer proximity to customers in both metros and emerging markets.

This network expansion includes sales outlets, service centers, and customer experience zones that offer premium, consistent service, ensuring that even remote customers have easy access to the Škoda ecosystem.

Peace of Mind: Ownership Experience as a Differentiator

In an increasingly competitive market, Škoda Auto India has differentiated itself not just through product quality, but also through a compelling after-sales experience. All Škoda vehicles come with a class-leading standard warranty, while extended warranty and service packages are available for added assurance.

A standout offering is the Škoda SuperCare maintenance package, now offered complimentary for one year with every new Škoda vehicle. This means that for most customers, the first paid service isn’t required until the second year of ownership or after 30,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. This initiative has been lauded for significantly reducing the initial cost of ownership and instilling long-term trust in the brand.

The Road Ahead

As Škoda Auto India moves into the second half of 2025, the momentum shows no signs of slowing down. With robust demand across SUV and sedan segments, new product launches in the pipeline, and a growing footprint across India, the company is well-poised to close 2025 with record full-year sales.

India continues to be one of Škoda’s most promising global markets, and the company’s performance in H1 2025 serves as a testament to its adaptability, innovation, and commitment to Indian customers. With a strong blend of European engineering, Indian insight, and a customer-first approach, Škoda Auto India is firmly on the road to becoming a mainstream automotive powerhouse.
