Chandigarh: Baroda BNP Paribas Asset Management India has launched a new thematic equity scheme—Baroda BNP Paribas Health and Wellness Fund. The New Fund Offer (NFO) opened for subscription on June 9, 2025, and will close on June 23, 2025.

The open-ended equity scheme aims to tap into the growing demand for healthcare and wellness—both in India and globally. The fund will invest in companies that stand to benefit from long-term structural growth in these sectors.

According to the fund house, India’s healthcare sector is at an inflection point. Per capita healthcare expenditure remains low compared to global standards but is rising due to increasing affordability, greater awareness, longer life expectancy, and a higher incidence of chronic diseases.

The fund will focus on a broad range of segments, including pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, MedTech, hospitals, insurance, and healthcare research. The scheme’s investment universe includes over 100 listed companies, with a combined market capitalisation of around $200 billion.

Suresh Soni, CEO of Baroda BNP Paribas AMC, said the fund seeks to benefit from a multi-decade opportunity. “From childhood to old age, the need for health and wellness is constant. With India’s healthcare spending starting from a low base, this sector holds promising long-term potential,” he said.

Sanjay Chawla, CIO – Equity, added that India is witnessing a surge in chronic illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. He said this reinforces the demand for better preventive and curative care, which in turn creates strong investment opportunities.

Baroda BNP Paribas AMC pointed to the consistent outperformance of the BSE Healthcare Index over broader market indices such as the BSE 500 TRI across 1, 3, 7, and 15-year timeframes. The fund will invest across large, mid, and small-cap companies that align with its health and wellness theme.

The scheme is suitable for investors with a minimum investment horizon of three years and a higher risk appetite, as it is focused on a single theme.

Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund is a joint venture between Bank of Baroda and BNP Paribas Asset Management. The fund house manages 43 mutual fund schemes and operates across 121 cities and towns in India, offering investment solutions across equity, debt, hybrid, and overseas categories.
