Pharmazz, Inc. showcased the groundbreaking potential of its lead drug, Sovateltide

“Discovery and development of sovateltide to treat cerebral stroke patients.”

Mohali: Pharmazz, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company addressing the critical care market, showcased the groundbreaking potential of its lead drug, Sovateltide in a two-day workshop on Drug Discovery and Development in New Millennium – 4 (D3NM-4) organized by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, NIPER, SAS Nagar, Mohali.

The chief guest of the workshop, Prof. Anil Gulati, Founder and CEO of Pharmazz, Inc. USA, delivered the keynote address on “Discovery and development of sovateltide to treat cerebral stroke patients.” Dr. Gulati discussed how he discovered this drug after an extensive 25 years of research. He described the journey of the development of Sovateltide by giving examples of preclinical and clinical studies on sovateltide, an endothelin B receptor agonist, and neural progenitor therapeutics. Sovateltide, an endothelin-B agonist and first-in-class drug for acute cerebral ischemic stroke, demonstrated statistically significant improvements in neurological outcomes.

With regulatory approval in India, Sovateltide has been launched, positively impacting over 70,000 patients since September 2023 through Pharmazz’s strategic partner. Preparations are underway for a larger multinational Phase 3 trial, marking a significant step in advancing treatment options for cerebral ischemic stroke on a global scale. Pharmazz remains committed to developing innovative therapies for underserved areas of critical care. Its pipeline includes two approved drugs in India and two Phase 3-ready programs in the United States, reinforcing its position as a leader in transforming patient outcomes.

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, NIPER (Mohali), organized a two-day workshop, “Drug Discovery and Development in New Millennium – 4 (D3NM-4),” with a theme Interfacing with Emerging Neuroprotective Strategies & Neuropharmacological Techniques recently in Mohali. Over 70 participants from the various Institutes and Colleges of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana have attended this workshop.
