Mohali: In a major boost to Punjab’s industrial ecosystem and the national vision of Make in India and Viksit Bharat, Ortech Textiles, a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility by Tynor Orthotics, was officially inaugurated today by Punjab Industries, IT and Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond.
Set up with a ₹300 crore investment, the Ortech Textiles unit is designed as a backward integration facility for Tynor Orthotics—India’s leading manufacturer of orthopaedic aids. The plant is spread over six acres in Mohali and is aimed at fulfilling all of Tynor’s internal textile requirements, eliminating any reliance on imported raw materials, particularly from China.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Sond lauded the Tynor Group’s commitment to local industrial development. “What Dr PJ Singh has done by setting up new units in Mohali, through land acquisition and long-term planning, showcases true dedication to Punjab’s progress. This investment reflects both business acumen and patriotic commitment,” he said.
The Industries Minister further highlighted the government’s ongoing reforms in the industrial sector. “In the last eight months, we have launched historic initiatives to boost ease of doing business in Punjab. The Invest Punjab fast-track portal ensures all approvals are cleared within 45 days,” Sond said. “The portal is already transforming Punjab’s industrial landscape. We’ve received queries from other states keen to replicate the model.”
According to the Minister, over 55,000 MSMEs have already registered on the Invest Punjab Portal. Many startups have also transitioned to MSME status through this initiative, benefitting from policy support and subsidies.
Also present at the inauguration was MLA Kulwant Singh, who attended as the Guest of Honour, along with Dr PJ Singh, Managing Director of Tynor Orthotics, and AJ Singh, the company’s Executive Director.
Scaling Up Manufacturing, Employment, and Exports
In his interaction with the media, Dr PJ Singh shared ambitious expansion plans for the company. “Tynor currently has a production capacity of ₹600 crore. With the integration of Ortech Textiles, we aim to scale this to ₹2,000 crore over the next few years,” he said.
The new facility is expected to generate between 1,000 to 1,500 jobs, significantly contributing to the region’s employment and economic development. “This unit also marks a critical step towards self-reliance, as it removes our dependence on imported technical textiles,” Dr Singh added.
Ortech Textiles is set to improve Tynor’s product quality by 25% while reducing raw material costs by the same margin. “This cost-efficiency and enhanced quality will allow us to offer more competitive and premium orthopaedic products, both in domestic and global markets,” said Dr Singh.
Doubling the Workforce and Global Ambitions
Echoing the sentiment, AJ Singh, Executive Director, Tynor Orthotics, emphasized the broader employment impact of the initiative. “Our workforce will grow from 2,500 to over 5,000 employees, with Ortech contributing 1,000 new jobs. This is not just an expansion—it’s a transformation,” he said.
He credited the liberal industrial policies and investor-friendly climate in Punjab for catalyzing such large-scale investments. “The government’s reforms have played a pivotal role. With this new facility, we also aim to expand our R&D capabilities and become one of the top three orthopaedic aid manufacturers globally,” he added.
World-Class Technology for Global Markets
The Ortech facility is equipped with advanced textile machinery including circular knitting, jacquard knitting, flat knit, 3D knit, narrow fabric machines, as well as lamination and neoprene processing equipment. These technologies offer Tynor unmatched vertical integration in producing high-performance materials used in orthopaedic supports and braces.
Currently, Tynor exports to over 60 countries and is the market leader in orthopaedic aids not only in India but also in five other nations. With Ortech Textiles now operational, the company is aiming to expand its footprint to 100 emerging markets, further consolidating its global leadership.
The launch of Ortech Textiles signals a new era for Indian manufacturing—one defined by technological self-reliance, enhanced competitiveness, and local job creation. With strong support from the Punjab government and a clear global vision, Tynor Orthotics is poised to set new benchmarks in the medical manufacturing industry.
